Restraint Reduction Network
Restraint Reduction Network Chair Professor Joy Duxbury took part in Channel 4’s latest Dispatches programme, screened last night (19 Feb), to expose the unacceptable restraint of a patient at a specialist hospital.
The Dene, in West Sussex, is part of the Priory Group.
Professor Duxbury said: “As seen in the Dispatches documentary on Channel 4, we still have some way to go with regards to protecting service users and staff and making our environments more therapeutic. The use of temporary staff, we know from existing research can lead to inconsistencies in care, conflict and an overuse of coercive practices.
