Chair of the RRN, Professor Joy Duxbury, is awarded OBE

We are delighted to congratulate Professor Joy Duxbury, Chair of the Restraint Reduction Network, on being awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list for her contributions to mental health research, practice and policy.

As a professor at Manchester Metropolitan University in the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care, and the university’s research lead in Mental Health, Prof Duxbury’s main focus is on minimising restrictive practices across health, social care, education and criminal justice settings.

Prof Duxbury said: “This is a testament to the tireless work of many colleagues, experts by experience and organisations who have supported me to make a real difference to the lives of those who experience mental health challenges. I am proud to accept this accolade on their behalf.” (read the full article on the MMU website here>)

We are proud to work with Professor Duxbury (OBE) in our work to eliminate unnecessary restrictive practices and congratulate her on this well-deserved honour and recognition for her tireless work and contribution to mental health research, practice, policy and promoting the reduction of restrictive practices across settings.
