RRN Social Connectivity Toolkit

In 2023, NHS England commissioned the RRN to develop this Social Connectivity resource toolkit.

These social connectivity resources extend our work on blanket restrictions by focusing on the ways children and young people maintain connection to their family, friends and community.

We know that inpatient units can be isolating places and the resources aim to support healthcare staff ensure that people remain connected as much as possible with those that matter most to them.

A reduction in blanket restrictions is not only rights-respecting but can lead to better physical and mental health outcomes, preventing further distress and avoidable trauma. These resources therefore support a smoother transition back to the persons home environment.
