Pearson BTEC Certificate in Trauma Informed Practice
About the Qualification
Early bird discount available until 5 December 2025
There is a growing international recognition of the extent of the impact of trauma in our lives. It is particularly important to note the extent of trauma affecting the lives of people who are disempowered in multiple ways, particularly those who are also dependent in some ways on specialist services, for example children and adults with learning disabilities, neurodiverse people, people with mental health issues and older people.
Designed for those working directly with people accessing services, this new, novel, qualification provides a foundation in trauma informed theory, allowing learning to be put into practice.
The qualification will support the development of:
- Knowledge and/or understanding related to providing high quality services that are trauma informed
- Skills related to implementing trauma informed practice in a service or organisation
- Learners’ personal growth and engagement in learning.
The course is led by lead tutor, Dr Noelle Blackman.
Who is the Qualification For?
The Level 4 Certificate in Trauma Informed Practice is aimed at those providing support, who wish to enhance their own practice. Certificate learners may be aspiring leaders who are not yet in a leadership position.
The programme will support you to develop your knowledge and practice, focusing specifically on someone you support. The Certificate is suitable for learners who work directly with people in social care, health, education or secure services.
Embedding of a trauma-informed approach is most effective where there is consensus and support from organisational leadership.
This Level 4 Certificate is the first step in the pathway towards becoming a practice leader in trauma informed practice and offers an excellent foundation for those wishing to go on to the Diploma in Practice Leadership in Trauma Informed Practice.
