Involuntary Transport Resources

Involuntary transport is when a person is moved from one venue to another against their will.

We are pleased to offer a set of resources about involuntary transport for health staff, ambulance crews, people who are detained, and their families. There is a:

• Talking heads video focussing on people’s lived experiences and the effects of the restrictions encountered.
• Single page summary sheet/poster which defines what involuntary transport is, summarises the issues and gives a list of key points that are important to keep in mind.
• ‘What to do’ resource pack which gives examples of common restrictive practices and their effect; guidance on individual advanced directives; guidance on supporting people’s sensory needs; information on self- regulation and co-regulation; and a ‘myth buster’.
