Top Priority 2
Post-Incident Support and Review: Phoenix EMS is committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and support following any incident involving restrictive practices. We will implement a structured post-incident review process that offers staff the opportunity to reflect, share experiences, and learn from each event. To ensure our workforce is equipped to respond effectively and compassionately, we will provide targeted training on post-incident debriefing, trauma-informed care, and reflective practice. Additionally, staff will have access to emotional support resources, including peer support groups and supervision, to help them process challenging experiences and maintain their wellbeing. Through these measures, Phoenix EMS aims to promote transparency, improve practice, and support the professional development and resilience of our staff, ultimately contributing to safer and more person-centred care for all service users.
Measure of Success
Measuring the Effectiveness of Post-Incident Support and Review: To ensure our post-incident support and review processes are effective, Phoenix EMS will implement the following measurement strategies: 1. Monitoring Participation and Completion Rates: We will track the number of staff who receive training in post-incident debriefing, trauma-informed care, and reflective practice, as well as attendance at debriefs and peer support sessions. 2. Staff Feedback and Wellbeing Surveys: Regular anonymous staff surveys will be conducted to gather feedback on the usefulness of post-incident support, perceived changes in workplace culture, and overall staff wellbeing. 3. Incident Data Analysis: We will analyse trends in incident reports, including the frequency and severity of restrictive interventions, to determine if there is a reduction following the implementation of enhanced post-incident support. 4. Quality of Post-Incident Reviews: Audits will be carried out to ensure reviews are being conducted consistently and to a high standard, with action points documented and followed up. 5. Staff Retention and Sickness Rates: We will monitor staff retention and sickness rates, as improved support is expected to contribute to lower turnover and absenteeism. 6. Service User Feedback: Where appropriate, feedback from service users on staff responses and post-incident processes will be gathered to assess any impact on their care experience. By using these measures, Phoenix EMS will continually evaluate and refine our approach, ensuring that our post-incident support and training initiatives are making a meaningful difference to staff wellbeing, professional development, and the quality of care we provide.

data collection and analysis from priority 1 and 2.
Measure of Success
Phoenix EMS will implement a robust data collection and analysis framework to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our post-incident support and review processes. Key elements will include: 1. Incident Reporting Systems: All incidents involving restrictive practices will be recorded in our secure digital incident reporting system. This will ensure accurate and timely collection of key data, including incident type, staff involved, actions taken, and outcomes. 2. Training Records: Attendance and completion of post-incident support training, debriefing sessions, and reflective practice workshops will be logged and reviewed regularly. 3. Staff and Service User Feedback: Feedback will be collected through regular anonymous staff wellbeing and satisfaction surveys, as well as service user feedback tools where appropriate. This qualitative data will provide insights into the perceived effectiveness of support and any areas for improvement. 4. Post-Incident Review Audits: We will audit post-incident reviews to assess consistency, quality, and follow-up on action points, ensuring our processes are being implemented as intended. 5. Trend and Impact Analysis: Routine analysis of incident data will help identify patterns, monitor changes in the frequency and severity of incidents, and evaluate the impact of enhanced staff support and training. Results will be shared with leadership and staff to inform ongoing improvements. 6. Reporting and Review: Findings from data analysis will be reported to the Restraint Reduction Steering Group and used to shape future training, support initiatives, and policy updates. Regular reviews will ensure that our approach remains evidence-based and responsive to emerging needs. Through this systematic approach to data collection and analysis, Phoenix EMS will ensure continuous improvement in post-incident support, staff development, and the quality of care for our service users.
